Together, the sequences in Quanta are fragments, loosely assembled to create a glimpse of ourselves as naturally technological beings

Using a bar code scanner, the participant navigates Quanta by physically manipulating (scanning) objects; a stone tool (technology), a leaf (nature) and a flag (culture).

By scanning the objects in different combinations, the participant "discovers" different sequences of imagery, video, animation and sound.

The "stage" for this interaction is a computer punch card that carries connotations of both archaic and contemporary technology projected into sand on the floor creating a shaman-like setting. Because each participant is drawn to a different object or sequence of objects, the experience of the work is unique to that individual at that time.
